LAHORE, Sept 5: President Pervez Musharraf inaugurated the renovated Shaahdin Manzil on The Mall on Sunday. The president, who arrived here to inaugurate the building in the afternoon, was accompanied by Abu Dhabi Consortium Chairman Shaikh Nahayan Mabarak Al-Nahayan.

Tight security measures had been taken during the president's visit to the building. A contingent of police was deployed along the route of the president's cavalcade, and the traffic remained blocked on The Mall and Jail Road for quite some time.

Journalists who had been invited to cover the inauguration of the building were denied entry into it for "security" reasons. After the inauguration of the building, the president was reported to have had a chat with the consortium chairman.

Earlier, President Pervez Musharraf along with UAE education minister Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al-Nahayan visited the Royal and Palm Country Golf Club here on Sunday. They attended a ceremony with the UAE minister, who was also the chairman of the Bank Alfalh and the United Bank Limited.
