KARACHI, Sept 5: The Sindh for Education and Literacy, Dr Hamida Khuhro, has emphasized timely publishing and printing of textbooks for the students of public and private schools.

This she said in directives issued to the chairman, Sindh Textbook Board, Anwar Ahmed Zai, further asking him to ensure that all titles were made available in the market and schools at least two weeks ahead of the commencement of the new academic session.

She also reviewed the under process work of updating primary school books and directed expediting the process so that books could be made available for the next academic year.

Dr Khuhro also asked government functionaries including EDOs to rationalize and update the demand of books to be distributed amongst students free of cost, so as no needy student was deprived of this benefit.

She was of the opinion that this was the prime time to work collectively for getting the province out of the mess of mismanagement and mal-practices in the education and social sectors.

It is pertinent to mention that under the directives of the Sindh Minister of Education, the task of revising curricula and textbooks, particularly at primary level had been undertaken. - PPI
