QUETTA, Aug 25: Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has said that all concerned institutions should make concrete planning and concerted efforts were necessary to overcome the water shortage problem , as with the passage of time it was bound to cause a serious situation in the country, especially in Balochistan.

Speaking at the concluding session of two workshop under the aegis of the provincial local government here on Wednesday he stressed that people from all school of thoughts should sit together to develop conscious amongst the people on this important issue.

He asserted that the provincial government has taken major steps including establishing Balochistan Water Resource Management Authority that would play a vital role in this regard.

The governor assured the participants that the government would do its best to implement the proposals and recommendations suggested in the workshop that would be helpful to control the water problem.

Earlier Owais Ghani while addressing the seventh convocation of the Bolan Medical College said that without acquiring modern education we could not meet the future challenges or get respectable status in the world community.

PML-N: PML-N Balochistan President Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasar has said that the "wrong foreign policy" adopted by the present government has caused uncertainty in Balochistan and the NWFP, adding that the army should have no role in politics and that only elected representatives could take the country out of the present mess.

Speaking at a Press conference at his residence here on Wednesday, the former federal minister emphasized that the government should use all its resources to take the Balochistan people into confidence over development projects in the province so that development activities were not hampered in the province.

He said the unrest in Balochistan and tribal areas and an insecure border with Afghanistan were serious challenges created by wrong policies of the rulers to protect US interests.

"Change of three prime ministers in a short time, army action in Balochistan and Wana, terrorists' attacks on COAS and Karachi Corps Commander, blasts and firing of rockets and other cases of lawlessness throughout the country reflected the worst situation.

He said though Afghanistan was a neighbour and a Muslim state, wrong policies of the government reduced Pakistan's influence there and this situation had been fully exploited by India.
