ISLAMABAD, Aug 24: Former Davis Cup players Mushaf Zia and Amman Asghar have called upon the president of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Syed Dilawar Abbas not to appoint what they said were "biased" officials to run tournaments.

The two, who are also the directors of the Islamabad Tennis Academy, accused organizers Muhammad Khalil, an assistant of Dilawar and coach Mahboob Khan of "playing dirty" in the ongoing Freedom Cup tournament.

They were furious over a decision by Mahboob, the tournament director, of postponing a match on Monday between Ziad Rochdy and Salaar Ahmed after the former got injured while warming up.

"This is ridiculous; never have we seen a match being postponed till the next day because of injury to a player," they said. Mushaf pointed out that either the player has to play the match then or give default.

"I wonder why players are made to sign a code of conduct saying the tournament will be played according to ITF rules and regulations." Both Mushaf and Amman accused the organisers of favouritism and said that this be immediately checked.
