LANDI KOTAL, Aug 23: One person was killed and four others, two of them women, were injured during armed clashes between two religious groups in Bara tehsil on Monday.

The clashes were reported from Pakha Tarha in Sam Baba- Kajorhi area and Narhao village of the remote Tirah valley.

A passer-by, Haji Naseeb, was killed and Noor Shah Gul was injured when activists of a group fired at a car the two were travelling in.

Situation in Pakha Tarha was tense as both the groups have taken up positions in the area. Residents remained indoors for fear of a bloody clash between the two rival religious groups.

In another incident of heavy gunfight in Narhao village one man and two women were critically wounded. Activists of both the groups were fighting against each other in Narhao for the last three weeks in which four children had been killed. The political administration too has failed to affect a cease fire between the two groups.
