TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 22: The government has provided a school to special children in the district, but not the facilities required to attend it. The school, which was established 12 years ago at a deserted site, is now a picture of neglect.

As the children had to face inconvenience in reaching the institution from various parts of the district, the school administration provided two vehicles for their transportation.

However, it did not sanction the posts of drivers due to which both the vehicles could not be used for long. Just a couple of years ago, a Naib Qasid and a peon were asked to pick and drop these children by these vehicles, but they were transferred after few months.

Thereafter, the vehicles were again parked on the school premises only to be exposed to dust. For years now, these vehicles have been rusting and are now not in the condition of running.

Worse still, the school is currently running short of at least five teachers due to which most of the parents prefer to admit their children to two private special education schools at Pirmahal and Gojra.

People have demanded of the authorities concerned to pay due attention to the school and equip it with facilities without which it is of no good to the special children. They have also urged provision of funds for the extension of the school building.
