FAISALABAD, Aug 19: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leaders have said that some elements in the fold of government are out to create anarchy in the country by harassing and killing religious leaders.

These views were expressed by MMA central vice-president Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and Punjab MMA president Hafiz Muhammad Idrees at the funeral procession of Qari Noor Muhammad here on Thursday.

Talking to newsmen, they alleged that injury marks on the body of Qari Noor Muhammad had exposed the true face of the rulers. The religious leaders were being tortured, kidnapped and murdered just to please the US.

MMA leaders claimed that the local police chief had assured them that a murder case would be registered against Kotwali SHO and other responsible personnel. "But we will consult with our superiors and lawyers before taking any legal proceedings of the incident," they said.

Deceased Qari Noor Muhammad left behind a wife, four sons and three daughters. He was the city president of JUI-F and a known figure among the local religious community especially students and teachers of seminaries. He taught students for about 20 years. His wife is also engaged in teaching in a girls madressah adjacent to Jamia Masjid Mubarik, Dijkot Road.
