ISLAMABAD, Aug 13: Journalists and other employees of the newspaper industry on Friday staged a demonstration outside the Parliament House in protest against non-implementation of the 7th Wage Board Award.

The demonstration organised by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (Apnec) marked the launching of a country wide campaign against what they called delaying tactics used by the government and newspapers owners in the implementation of the wage award.

Lawyers holding a demonstration against the military operation in Balochistan expressed solidarity with the journalists and joined their rally. Similar protest rallies have been planned for other cities including Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Faisalabad, Multan and Abbottabad.
