KARACHI, Aug 12: The Sindhi Hari Tehreek workers on Thursday staged a protest demonstration and observed a token hunger strike against the police action in Nagarparkar, district Tharparkar, in front of the Press Club.

Holding placards and banners, the SHT workers were chanting slogans against the alleged police action against its activists in Nagarparkar. SHT president Ali Nawaz Dahri told newsmen that police had launched an operation against the party workers, as many of the workers had been implicated in different cases and arrested.

He claimed that SHT Tharparkar president Magnu Kolhi was arrested in a fake case. Another such case was registered against 25 SHT workers and many of them had been arrested, he added.

Alleging that the SHT workers were being tortured by the police, Mr Dahri demanded the government to constitute an inquiry committee headed by a high court judge, or hold investigations into the cases against the party activists by an honest officer.

He also demanded the government to release Ghulam Mustafa Chandio, Magnu Kolhi, Jetu Kolhi and others, and withdraw all the cases against the SHT workers. -PPI
