LAHORE, Oct 27: The Federal Department of Archaeology and Museums says work on the renovation of north facade of the Jehangir’s Tomb is going to be taken up shortly.

Reacting to a photograph published on Friday, it said southern and main facades had already been renovated while work on the northern facade was suspended for lapse of funds. “Following a recent ‘project release’ the process of renovation is being re-started,” it added. It said the ‘broken door’ shown in the picture was only a temporary addition by the department to this section of the mausoleum which stored the stone ‘sange badal’ used in the restoration of the monument. It will be removed during the restoration work.—APP
