KARACHI, Aug 9: Protest demonstrations were staged by different parties in front of Karachi Press Club against military operation in Balochistan, here on Monday.

Holding banners and placards, protesters raised slogans against the operation and urged the government to stop the operation and withdraw cases against Baloch leaders.

Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chairman Bashir Qureshi while addressing protesters alleged that the government was keen "to occupy resources of Balochistan and Sindh, and change Balochs and Sindhis into a minority in their own provinces."

He said the army operation was carried out in Balochistan in the past, but the government could not crush nationalists. He urged the government to stop operation in Balochistan, withdraw cases against Akhtar Mengal and other Baloch leaders, and stop setting up cantonments in Balochistan.

Fida Hussain Dashti, Hidayatullah, Noor Hussain, Hanif Baloch and Rauf Baloch while addressing demos, organized by Pakistan National Party, said they would not allow the government to succeed in its designs in the name of mega-projects and cantonments. -PPI
