KARACHI: 8th victim unidentified

KARACHI, Aug 9: One of the eight victims of the twin bomb blasts near Jamia Binnori Madressah on Sunday remained unidentified till late Monday.

TPO of SITE Imran Shaukat, told Dawn that the administration of the seminary could not identify the victim who appeared to be in his mid-20s.

Apart from a serious blow in his head, the victim had no injury mark on his body, he added. Police had found a plastic bag, often carried by scavengers, from the scene. "The victim may be a scavenger happened to be at the scene of the blast," the TPO said.

Referring to the body of Syed Nazar Abbas Naqvi, brought to the JPMC late on Sunday from Ziauddin Hospital, Mr Shaukat said that after investigating into his presence there at the time of the blast, the police handed the body over to his relatives on Monday morning.

The victim, along with his brother-in-law Zafar Abbas, was there to get a Ta'weez from a faith-healer in the same locality. Zafar Abbas was injured in the blast. An FIR (No. 260/2004) was registered at the SITE police station on the complaint of Naveed Ahmed, in-charge of bakery section of the Binnoria Restaurant.

The motorcycle (KAM-5211) used in the blast was stolen from the Labour Colony, SITE, on March 27, as per the FIR No. 121/2004 lodged by one, Mohammad Iqbal.
