Eight die in accident on KKH

MANSEHRA, Aug 8: At least eight people were killed and 35 others injured when a Rawalpindi-bound bus plunged into a river on the Karakoram Highway in Kohistan district, about 130 kilometres from here, on Sunday.

The ill-fated bus, which was coming from Skardu, skidded off the road at a sharp turn and fell into the river. Most of the dead and the injured belonged to Skardu and Quetta. They were taken to Bisham Hospital.

According to police, the bus had rammed into the shops on the roadside before it fell off the Dubair bridge. The victims were identified as Hussain, Sawaar Mohammad Hussain, Sajjad Hassan, Mohammad Ali, Taimur Shah, Viqas, Naqeebullah and an army man Iftikhar Ahmad.

The injured were identified as Ghulam Abbass, Zakia Bibi, Mujtaba, Mubashar, Mustafa, Zaini Batool, Iftikhar, Shabbir, Fida Hussain, Irshad Hussain, Sajida Batool, Fida Hussain, Mohammad Ali Shah, Syed Ahmad Ali Shah, Shah Hussain, Mohammad Taqi, Mohammad Hassan, Syed Mohammad Nadeem, Syed Mohammad Irfani, Mohammad Qasim, Ghulam Nabi, Noor Mohammad, Ameer Hamza, Abdul Wahid, Shahid, Naeem Khan, Mohammad Khusro, Akhtar Abbass, Mukhtiar Ali, Imtiaz, Mohammad Nafees, Mohammad Anwar, Ali Nawaz, Mudassar Shahzad and Ali.
