SIALKOT, Aug 6: The Punjab government has finally given the tehsil status to Sambrial while the Revenue department has issued a formal notification in this regard.

According to the notification, the Sambrial tehsil will consist of 10 revenue estates - Dollo Bhillo, Roras, Mangu Behram, Pindian, Kot Chodha, Kot Bhaga, Korowal, Mandair Kalan, Mahatpur and Mandher Khurd.

Sambrial will be the Tehsil Headquarters of the Sambrial tehsil. Sambrial will be the fourth tehsil of the Sialkot district. The three other tehsils are Sialkot, Daska and Pasrur.

Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi during his visit to Sambrial in 2003 had announced giving the tehsil status to Sambrial by July 1, 2004. However, due to opposition by some politicians the final decision was delayed for about a month.

Now, the Sialkot dry port, under-construction international airport and Export Processing Zone will also fall in the jurisdiction of Sambrial tehsil instead of Daska tehsil.

CASE REGISTERED: Naikapura police registered a case against Rangpura SHO Sub-Inspector Zafar and constables Sarfraz, Shamshad Agha and 'Fauji' on the orders of district and sessions judge.

They trespassed the premises of trader Rahman Butt in Ramgarha locality, tortured him during illegal detention in police station and released him after extorting Rs30,000 from his father. None of the accused has so far been arrested.
