PSF should focus on kids: Jansher

Published August 4, 2004

ISLAMABAD, Aug 3: Former World and British Open champion Jansher Khan on Tuesday reiterated that Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) focus on kids between the ages of seven and eight years in their bid to find a champion.

Jansher told Dawn that concentrating on the under-19s and the senior players was all very well but suggested that a pool of talented kids be formed who be then trained over four years.

"If this is done in a systematic manner, we would have well trained players by the age of 12 who could then go on and play till the age of 30."

He urged the PSF to seek guidance from former players like Qamar Zaman, Jahangir Khan, Amjad Khan and Zarak Jahan Khan. "I just do not understand why the federation does not bother to consult such people to improve squash."
