SUKKUR, Aug 1: Five illegal detainees were recovered by the judicial magistrate, Moro, in a raid on the Moro police station on Saturday. The raid was conducted on the orders of the session judge, Naushahro Feroze.

The judicial magistrate, Jamshaid Awan, went to police quarters behind the police station and recovered five illegal detainees from a quarter. They include Shah Nawaz Malkani, Qabool Toto, Popat Toto, Ali Murad, Ali Machhi and Nawab Buriro.

The freed men told the judicial magistrate that the assistant sub-inspector, Abbas Almani, had arrested them a week back and demanding gratification for their release. The judicial magistrate checked the record of the police station and ordered the ASI and other police officials to appear before the session court on Aug 2.

PROTEST CAMP RAIDED: The Shikarpur police on Saturday conducted a raid on the hunger strike camp outside the press club and tried to take away protesters of Lashari family.

The Lashari family is observing a hunger strike against the Rustam police and an influential of the area for the last six days. Policemen first harassed them to end the hunger strike and when they refused to end hunger strike, they tried to take them away but failed due to the intervention of journalists and people of the area.

Later, the TPO held talks with the elder of the family, Saindad Lashari, and told him that his sons were not arrested by the police. Saindad Lashari said his sons were arrested by the police and detained them at some undisclosed place.

He said he and his family members would not end the hunger strike till the recovery of his sons. The condition of four children Zulfiqar, Zamir, Shaista and Sassui, and a woman Shana is said to be critical. Talking to newsmen, Saindad Lashari said he was afraid that the police might had killed his sons.

MISSING: Muhabat Ali Mangnijo, tractor driver of Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro, is missing since Friday afternoon. He had gone Jacobabad to fill fuel in the tractor but did not return home. When his relatives conducted search, they found the tractor parked on the Qaim Shah road. It is suspected that he had been kidnapped over some matrimonial affair.
