SHEIKHUPURA, July 28: On an inquiry report of District Health Committee chairman Malik Shoaib Dogar, District Nazim Chaudhry Tawakalullah Virk on Wednesday cancelled the transfer orders of two doctors.

DCO Tariq Najeeb Najmi had ordered transfer of Nankana Sahib THQ hospital medical officer Dr Khadim Husain and Dr Muhammad Javed on the charges of corruption. However, the Nazim ordered an inquiry to ascertain the charge and assigned the task to Malik Shoaib, who declared the two doctors innocent.

After receiving the report, the Nazim asked the doctors to continue with their jobs at the same places. The Nazim also reinstated Bucheki rural health centre's Dr Samina and dental surgeon Dr Sajjad, who were suspended from service by the DCO for breach of duty.

The Nazim through a notification declared the DCO's orders in both cases illegal. When contacted, the DCO said it was his duty to check the performance of all the officials of the district government. He claimed that he did nothing wrong in taking action against the doctors.

PRISONERS FREED: District and Sessions Judge Khan Talib Husain Baloch on Wednesday freed 22 captives involved in petty crimes. During a visit to the district jail, the judge also inspected various barracks and listened to the problems of the inmates. He directed jail superintendent Majeed Ahmad Qureshi to provide all possible facilities to the prisoners.
