ISLAMABAD, July 27: Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Tuesday that the government's policy on sending troops to Iraq was very clear and before taking any decision the people and parliament would be taken into confidence.

Speaking at a meeting of parliamentary secretaries, Premier Shujaat accused the opposition of creating unnecessary misunderstanding among the masses on the question of sending troops to Iraq.

"So far, no decision has been taken and whenever a need is felt such a decision will be taken by keeping in view the objectives of sending troops and strictly in accordance with the advice of Muslim Ummah, the members of parliament and the people at large," he said.

The prime minister said he had discussed the issue with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah during his recent visit to Saudi Arabia on the desire of General Musharraf and Saudi cabinet has also been briefed on Saudi leadership's meetings with him (Shujaat).

He informed the meeting that there was complete unanimity of views between Saudi and Pakistani leadership on bilateral and international matters. Premier Shujaat asked the parliamentary secretaries to give special attention to the parliamentary affairs.

He said the government would bring a bill of public importance in parliament very soon, and added that all the members should prepare themselves to take part in debate on the bill.
