RAWALPINDI, July 27: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday called for dispensation of speedy and inexpensive justice to the masses. The president was attending a briefing on the implementation status of the Access to Justice Programme.

Minister of State for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Raza Hayat Hiraj, and law ministry secretary briefed the president on the programme. The president underlined the importance of dispensing speedy and inexpensive justice to all segments of the society for sustainable socio-economic well-being of the nation.

He said the dispensation of justice at the grassroots level should be made mandatory so that people could have trust and respect in the judicial system. He said an effective and respected judicial system had a direct bearing on the economic development of a country. The president asked the judges to dispose of the pending cases in an effective and just manner. - APP
