LAHORE, July 16: The Punjab Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Friday arrested an alleged drug-runner from the airport and claimed to have seized 2.6 kilogramme heroin.

An ANF statement said a team was deployed at the airport on a tip-off. The team members searched the luggage of Fayyazur Rahman on suspicion and recovered the contraband hidden in the secret pockets of an attache case.

The ANF claimed that the drug was being smuggled to Muscat for its delivery to some other countries. The statement said the suspect was being interrogated after the registration of a case.

DIES: A youngster, unidentified so far, died after falling from the rooftop of the Badshahi Mosque on Friday night. Suspecting he might have committed suicide, police said that he fell in the courtyard. People present there tried to rush him to hospital, but he died.

Nothing was found to establish his identity, the police said and sent the body to the city mortuary for autopsy.

Electrocuted: A man was electrocuted and at least four others suffered injuries in rain-related incidents in various parts of the city on Friday. Muhammad Nazir (40) was passing through a street inundated by rainwater when he suffered an electric shock from a pole. He died instantly. His body was returned to his family without autopsy.

Three labourers fell down from a ladder while hanging a banner in Garhi Shahu due to slippery road. They were taken to a nearby hospital from where they were discharged after first aid. Another man, Shafi Ahmad, suffered injuries when a wall collapsed in Hadyara. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.
