PESHAWAR, July 13: The Sarhad Hydel Development Organization (Shydo) has offered to supply 12mw electricity to industries in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate from the Pehur hydropower project.

The offer was extended by Shydo Planning Director Bahadar Khan during a meeting with industrialists of the estate at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Tuesday.

However, SCCI members expressed reservations over the offer, said a press release issued by the chamber. According to Mr Khan the maximum capacity for electricity supply is 18mw, but initially 12mw would be supplied. The project would cost Rs927.498 million and would be completed in 30 months, he said.

Mr Khan said Shydo was also considering additional electricity supply from the Gadoon Amazai grid station. He said the industrial estate comprised mostly of textile industries, that were consuming around 50mw.

However, electricity from the Pehur project would be supplied only to small and sick units, he said. It was decided that a decision in this regard would be taken in the next meeting, to be held soon. -APP
