ISLAMABAD, July 8: Interior Minister Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat on Thursday urged foreign missions in Pakistan to stop painting a bleak picture about the law and order situation and security of diplomats in the country.

Talking to reporters in a press conference, he said there was no 'breach of security' in the Diplomatic Enclave when anonymous threat calls were received by two embassies this week.

He said Pakistan was one of the main allies of these countries in war against terrorism but their missions were spreading false reports about the law and order situation in the country.

The US and UK missions had reportedly received threat calls after which they closed their visa sections. "We are providing the best security cover to the diplomats which is rare in any country, therefore there should be no cause of concern," he said.

Mr Hayat said news about threat calls was a bid to harm the efforts of Pakistan to provide foolproof security to foreign nationals. "They should see the results. For the last two-and-a-half years not a single incident of any crime has taken place in the Diplomatic Enclave which shows that our police and other law enforcement agencies are doing the best job there," he added.
