KARACHI, July 7: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has directed the chief secretary to take steps for removal of obstacles in development work at Scheme-33 so that people could start constructing their houses in the scheme.

The governor, who was presiding over a meeting, called for an effective cooperation between local governments, police and concerned provincial institutions for removal of encroachments in residential and industrial areas.

Additional chief secretary (local government) Saleem Khan informed the meeting that Taiser Town would be developed on 20,570 acres and the revenue department would provide 16,000 acres on concessional rates.

Dr Ibad stressed the need for increasing the number of small-sized plots for people of low-income group for allotment at reasonable rates. He directed the officials to expedite the measures aimed at providing residential facilities to low-income group people.

Referring to the beautification plan of Superhighway, from Sohrab Goth to Toll Plaza, the governor directed the National Highway Authority to initiate beautification plan at the earliest. The meeting was informed that the development and carpeting work on Karsaz Road would be completed by Nov 2004.

The governor inquired about the progress of work on Shaheed Sibghatullah Road (Dalmia Road) and Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road (Karsaz Road). He asked the officials to ensure better civic amenities to people in all residential areas and industrial zones.
