BAHAWALPUR, July 7: The States and Frontier Region (SAFRON) of Kashmir Affairs has distributed over Rs20 million among 21 legal heirs as their share in the properties of the late Amir of Bahawalpur Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi here on Wednesday.

Distribution sub-committee chairman and former EDO (Revenue) Abdul Ghafoor Bhatti gave away the cheques to heirs/representatives at the Bahawalpur Circuit House here on Wednesday.

The share of each of the heir has been distributed from the pool money collected by the SAFRON from the income of properties of the late Nawab. The properties are in the custody of the federal government.

It may be mentioned that the distribution of the landed property of the late Nawab among his legal heirs is presently under process on the orders of the prime minister.

Earlier, the movable property, including the costly cars of the late Nawab's fleet, had already been auctioned within the royal family members. The remaining furniture of the historic Sadiq Garh Palace was also distributed among the heirs after which it was again sealed. Now it is in the "safe custody" of the federal government which will be the custodian till all assets of the late Nawab are distributed among his heirs.

PROTEST CAMP: The PML-N on Wednesday organized a protest camp at Fowara Chowk to condemn the murder of former minister Pir Binyamin Rizvi. Punjab PML-N vice-president Samiullah Chaudhry and other leaders of the labour wing joined the camp. The participants raised slogans against the government and demanded the arrest of the killers of Binyamin.
