ISLAMABAD, July 6: Foreign Office Spokesman Masood Khan on Tuesday said Pakistan International Airlines has been allowed to use Russian air space.

Talking to PTV the spokesman said , the misunderstandings of Russian civil aviation authorities regarding use of its air space by PIA has been amicably resolved.

The incident of interception of PIA Manchester bound flight by the Russians was a computer fault. The intercepted PIA flight was using relatively new, alternate but pre-planned Russian route.

The incident will not affect the relations of Pakistan and Russia, Mr Khan said. Answering a question, he said, the relations between Pakistan and Russia were improving fast. In Moscow, the visit of Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri is keenly awaited.

During the tour, the foreign minister will meet his counterpart and secretary of National Security Council of Russia. Relations between Pakistan and Russia will improve further by the visit of Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, he added. -APP
