QUETTA, July 6: The Balochistan National Movement said on Tuesday that the recognition of the oppressed nationalities' right over their resources could take the country out of the current constitutional and political imbroglio.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club, BNM President Ghulam Mohammad Baloch and Secretary-General Mohammad Rahim Baloch warned that use of force against the Baloch masses would be resisted.

They deplored the threatening statements of President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat to the Baloch and said history showed that army actions had failed to subdue their national struggle.

They said the usurper's were following a policy of divide and rule to pit pro-establishment elements against the patriotic forces and continue the exploitation of resources.

They said the government had detained political activists Mir Abdul Nabi Bungulzai, Alam Pirkani, Khalid Ali Baig, Gul Hasan, Baloch Khan, Shadi Khan, Eid Mohammad, Aslam Gurgnari, Amin Quresh, Abdul Hayee, Rasool Bakhsh, Ghulam Hussain Marri and Khuda Bakhsh Bizenjo to harass people.

The BNM leaders criticized the rulers for committing atrocities against local population and accused the Punjab leadership of suppressing the Baloch national movement since 1948. They said the oppressors had been unsuccessful in crushing the national struggle.

They asserted that the rulers' insistence on constructing cantonments and power loadshedding affecting the growers were part of a plan to achieve the exploiters' designs through force and poverty.
