KARACHI, July 2: The naib nazim of the City District Government Karachi Tariq Hassan has called upon the masses to cooperate with the government for improving the country's education system , as it was not only the responsibility of the government.

He said this while speaking at the 53rd books distribution ceremony organized by the Students Welfare Organization (SWO) on Friday at Khaliqdina Hall. Academic books were distributed among 1,000 needy children from classes one to eight.

"The City District Government Karachi is trying its best for improving the education system, and has initiated several projects in this regard." He said the CDGK had doubled the budget of education this year against previous year's.

Scholarship schemes of Rs100 monthly have been announced for those female students who successfully complete 75 per cent attendance, he added. Tariq also stressed upon teachers to perform their duties devotedly and pay full attention on education at their schools rather than on private tuition's.

He also lauded the services of SWO and emphasized expansion of the organization. The newly elected chairman of Pakistan Lions Club International, Dr M. M. Gulzar, Sindh MPA Akhtar Bilgrami and others also spoke. -PPI
