BATTICALOA, June 30: Dissident LTTE eastern Batticaloa leader Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna will register a new Tamil political taking on the name of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to be known as LTTE Karuna faction.
The registration will be done with Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake shortly, an aide close to the dissident leader said. Karuna, who was a close confidante of LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran and the mastermind behind Prabhakaran's victories against the government military in the past twenty years of war, is already considered to be an ally in the government of President Chandrika Kumaratunga.
