PERTH, June 23: The 16-man Australian men's olympic hockey team announced on Wednesday has five players from bronze medal- winning 2000 Olympic squad Michael Brennan, Troy Elder, Paul Gaudoin, Brent Livermore and Matthew Wells.

Gaudoin, team's most capped player, was named to play at his third Games and is only survivor of Australia's 1996 Olympic campaign. However, his participation in Athens is clouded by a knee injury suffered before European tour in late May.

After making his international debut earlier this year, 20-year-old Mark Knowles is youngest member of squad. He is joined by 11 first-time Olympians including goalkeeper Mark Hickman.

Squad: Travis Brooks, Michael Brennan, Dean Butler, Jamie Dwyer, Nathan Eglington, Troy Elder, Paul Gaudoin, Bevan George, Robert Hammond, Mark Hickman, Mark Knowles, Brent Livermore, Michael McCann, Stephen Mowlam, Grant Schubert, Matthew Wells. -PPI
