LARKANA, June 17: A district government meeting on Wednesday decided to hold inquiry against SHOs who would register false FIRs. The meeting with District Nazim Khurshid Junejo in the chair directed the police officials to discourage such a trend.

It also accorded full authority to the DPO for transfer and postings of SHOs in the district without being influenced by any political pressure. The meeting expressed satisfaction over the law and order situation in the district but showed dissatisfaction over the performance of traffic police.

The meeting demanded return of 250 policemen of the district deployed on the Sindh-Balochistan border in the Sukkur region. Later, talking to newsmen the district nazim and DCO Dr Badar Ujjan said that police pickets set up along the Indus river had been closed in the wake of rising water level in the river.

They said that the force comprising 300 policemen had been deployed on highways. They said that police stations in kutcha area would be equipped with new vehicles and other required material.

The district nazim said that the Sindh government would establish a border police force for the B-area falling in the Sukkur range. "Almost all has been done to recruit 1,200 police personnel to begin with," he said.

"With the establishment of such a force, police personnel sent there from other districts will be disengaged" he said. He said that an amount to the tune of Rs2 million was sanctioned for the police welfare. He said that new motorcycles would be added in the fleet of Madadgar 15 to improve its performance.
