VEHARI, May 21: Over 100 wheat growers on Tuesday protested against Food department officials for the non-payment of their dues at the Luddan area procurement centre.

A group of affected growers, including Ramzan Daultana, Zafar Hussain, Meraj Khan, Malik Sher and others, told newsmen that Food officials had purchased wheat over Rs50 million, but refused to pay the price.

They said officials of the Food Department had also misbehaved with growers when they insisted for the payment.

Protesting growers threatened to go on a hunger strike for an indefinite period if the Food department did not clear their dues within two days.
