SUKKUR, June 13: A woman, Kerri Banglani, 70, has said that the killing of two alleged bandits in Raza Goth by police the other day was a drama.

Talking to newsmen at the Daharki press club on Saturday , she said that the fact was that police had arrested 11 people in Daharki out of whom two were killed by them in a fake encounter.

She said that the names of those killed as given by police were also wrong because as their names were Hakeem Khoso and Haji Khan Khoso. She claimed that these people were peasants of a local landlord. The police had identified the two as Haroon Nandvani and Rehman Kandrani and claimed that they were the most wanted bandits.

BANDIT KILLED: An alleged bandit was killed and six others two of them policemen were injured in an encounter between bandits and law enforcement agencies in Keti Teghani on the boundary of Shikarpur and Jacobabad districts on Saturday.

The encounter lasted for about three hours as a result one most wanted bandit Akbar Shaikh was killed while four others were injured. The injured were identified as Meeno Shaikh, Abdoo Lolai, Allah Wassayo Shar and Neeho Marhato while two policemen were also injured.

STRIKE: A complete strike was observed in Bagarji town and outskirts of Sukkur city against the police on Sunday. About 200 people staged a demonstration in Bagarji and raised slogans against the police who conducted a raid on Yar Mohammad Ghumro village on Sunday.

Over 100 policemen with APCs conducted a raid on the village this morning and conducted house-to-house search and manhandled with the children and women. The police claimed that they had information that some bandits were participating in a marriage ceremony in the village.
