HYDERABAD, June 3: Agricultural experts have stressed the need for optimum use of fertilizers along with latest technology for increasing crop production in the country.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of "Zarkhez", a new product of the Engro Chemical Pakistan, here on Wednesday, they said that it was necessary to increase per acre yield.

Engro Chemical general manager Mohammad Khalid advised growers to derive maximum benefit from free land testing service offered by the company. A Sindh Abadgar Board official, Haji Nadeem, said that increase in prices of fertilizers and shortage of water had caused a negative impact on crop production.

HESCO: Hyderabad Electric Supply Company chief executive Adeebul Hassan Rizvi has advised entrepreneurs to derive maximum benefit from the industrial package announced by Wapda.

He was talking to members of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the chamber's secretariat here on Thursday. Referring to complaints about detection bills, he said that no consumer would be issued detection bill for more than three months and in case of use of air-conditioners, detection bills would not be issued for more than six months.

He clarified that detection bills were issued in case of power theft or meter fault. He said that faulty meters would be replaced without any delay. Mr Rizvi said that for holding marriage ceremonies or other functions, consumers should deposit Rs2,000 with Hesco to legalize the use of electricity.

Earlier, in his welcome speech, HCCI president Emad Siddiqui underlined problems being faced by commercial and industrial consumers.

Hda: The building control department, Hyderabad Development Authority, has declared 80 buildings in Hyderabad and Latifabad talukas dangerous and issued notices for their demolition. Meanwhile, the HDA Employees Union condemned what it called anti-workers policies of the authorities.
