GUJRANWALA, May 31: District Officer (Revenue) Najam Ahmad Shah on Monday found a dozen medical officers, including a gynaecologist and a surgeon, absent from their duties.
Paying a surprise visit to the District Headquarters Hospital, the official checked the attendance of medical officers in various wards and found a dozen of them missing.
They included medical ward in-charge Dr Amjad, orthopaedic unit in-charge Dr Muzaffar Naseerullah Chattha, surgeon Dr Tehseen Mazhar, Dr Abdul Shakoor, Dr Rashid, Dr Amjad, chest ward in-charge Dr Akram, Dr Abid, gynaecologist Dr Farhana Mubasher and women medical officer Rubina Anwar. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the sanitary conditions at the hospital and submitted a detailed report to the higher authorities.
REMAND: Sabzi Mandi police on Monday produced District Naib Nazim Haji Gauhar Zaman before a judicial magistrate and got his three-day physical remand in the Hudood Ordinance case.
The court, however, ordered that he should be send behind bars on two-week judicial remand in the firing case. Reports said Sabzi Mandi police arrested Mr Zaman, who is also a PPP leader, and detained him at Model Town police station on the charge of abducting a woman and in a firing case. The court also order remand of his two guards - Muhammad Ijaz and Muhammad Ashraf - for three days in the same case.
NO VACATION: Private schools did not pay heed to the government order regarding summer vacation due to hot weather and instead started examinations. Some students and their parents said here on Monday owners of private educational institutions were collecting three months fee in lump sum.
They demanded that the Punjab government and education ministry should take stern action against the administration of private schools on charge of not observing government policy.
