DERA GHAZI KHAN, May 31: The members of Dera district council unanimously rejected the resolution to delegate financial powers to the DCO and staged a walk out for not including their schemes in development project in a session here on Monday.

The session was presided over by Naib Nazim Sardar Javed Iqbal Qaisrani at the district council hall here on Monday. The resolution was tabled by the EDO (finance and planning).

Sardar Akram, Sheikh Usman Farooq, Khalid Ali Kakar, Sheikh Alauddin, Nazar Mureedani, Yousuf Khalool and Allah Bux Gopang walked out from the session stating that their schemes were not sent by the Nazim to the district development committee.

Khalid Kakar said his council was deprived of funds for the last three years while Yousuf Khalool said the schemes of his opponent were approved. Sardar Akram said the schemes which were not feasible should not be taken up and the Nazim should be informed about them.

Nazim Mansoor Ahmdani said girls school in Mana Ahmdani lacked the staff while a teacher went on leave for a year. The EDO (education) said the matter would be probed and resolved. Shahida Qureshi and Farrah Haroon also supported the resolution.

The EDO (agriculture) said new veterinary hospital building has yet to be handed over to the livestock department. Mian Abu Bakar Siddique said police were involved in theft cases while Zafar Abbas Naqvi challenged that he was ready to face penalty if police succeed in arresting robbers.

Sardar Omar Khosa said the Dera DCO deployed a large contingent of Baloch levy border military police in and outside the district council hall during the last session without approval which was an insult of members.

He said despite ban by the chief minister, the DCO transferred 45 assistant education officers. He demanded cancellation of transfers orders. The DCO was not present in the session. However, his written reply was received in which he said the CM had approved the transfers. On it, Omar Khosa said the CM's directive should be presented in session and shown to the members. District Naib Nazim said the DCO would be asked to explain the matter.

Naib Nazim Javed Qaisrani said revised budget would be presented by Nazim Sardar Jamal Leghari on June 5. On his announcement Ijaz Khetran and Usman Farooq said the members should be provided copies of the budget document well in time. The EDO (F&P) said the Nazim has not yet approved the revised budget so that they could not distribute the copies.
