HYDERABAD, May 30: Protest demonstrations were held in different parts of Sindh against the murder of noted religious scholar Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai in Karachi on Sunday.

The protesters condemned the killing of Mufti Shamzai and termed it a conspiracy to foment sectarian clashes in the country.

In Hyderabad, activists of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal held a demonstration outside the press club and blocked the Risala Road for quite sometime by staging a sit-in. The Tehrik Islami held a meeting at the Qadamgah Maula Ali under the chairmanship of Allama Altaf Hussain Al-Hussaini.

Condemning the murder of Mufti Shamzai, the meeting said that it was a conspiracy of US agents to spark Shia-Sunni riots. The meeting called upon the federal government to ensure the arrest of the culprits.

SUKKUR: A procession was taken out by activists of the JUI from Madressah Manzil Gah to protest against the killing of Mufti Shamzai. Protest processions were also taken out in Thul, Kandhkot, Shikarpur, Ghotki and other parts of interior of Sindh.

MIRPURKHAS: People took out a procession from Madina Masjid to protest against the murder of Mufti Shamzai. Carrying banners and placards, the protesters, after marching through main roads reached at the Market Chowk where their leaders delivered speeches.
