BAHAWALPUR, May 25: The PPP high command is reportedly contemplating to field its three founding members for by-polls on as many Punjab Assembly seats in Yazman and Bahawalpur tehsils.

Dawn learnt here on Tuesday that the matter came under discussion during the recent visit of Punjab president Qasim Zia. The meeting thoroughly examined the situation and initially proposed the names of district president Riaz Daha (for PP-269), Shakil Mirza (PP-276) and Salim Akhtar Bhatti (PP-275).

It may be recalled that the Punjab Assembly seats fell vacant due to the resignations of Khalid Mahmood Warren, Dr Muhammad Afzal and Shoaib Karim, who had deserted the party along with district nazim Tariq Cheema and his brother MNA Tahir Cheema in March.
