KOHAT, May 25: The Kohat Bar Association has urged the government to order the reopening of surgical and medical wards of the Liaquat Memorial Hospital (LMH) which have been closed owing to shortage of doctors in the KDA medical complex.

Bar president Syed Shujauddin Wasti while chairing a meeting in the bar room on Tuesday said that the government should make arrangements to employ extra staff for the new KDA hospital, instead of shifting facilities from the old Liaquat Memorial Hospital.

The association through a unanimous resolution asked the medical superintendent who is in charge of both the hospitals to transfer the doctors and other medical staff from the KDA back to LMH immediately.

The members of the bar said that the people were facing numerous problems due to this decision especially in emergency cases because the KDA hospital was situated very far from the city and there was no public transport facility available in that particular area after evening.

They said that LMH was located right in the centre of the city therefore it was accessible to all the people therefore the MS should review his decision.
