LAHORE, May 20: The Punjab government has approved increase in the salaries of all 1,748 house physicians serving in the government hospitals from Rs3,800 to Rs6,210, it was learnt.

“A notification in this regard is expected to be issued in a couple of days,” sources told Dawn on Monday.

The Punjab government had also increased the salaries of some 1,250 FCPS Part-II trainee doctors from Rs4,000 to Rs6,210 a few days ago.

Health department officials claimed that with the approval of the new salary package, no junior doctor will work on ‘honorary basis’ in any public hospital in the province.
