Kazakhstan lead series 2-0

LAHORE, May 6: Kazakhstan have taken an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the four- match women's hockey series against Pakistan by winning the second match 3-1 at the National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

The home side which looked out of form in the opener and lost 2-0, displayed a somewhat improved performance as it managed to score the first goal of the series, but the visitors proved they were much stronger.

Kazakhstan led the first half 1-0. After missing two short-corners and few chances due to feeble hitting, Kazakhstan eventually drew first blood through Podshivalova Nataya, who converted the third penalty corner in the 25th minute on an indirect try.

Pakistan did not attack at all in the first session. Kazakhstan surged ahead in the second half scoring two goals within a minute (46th). Orazgaliyeva Aniura struck a field goal after a short melee in front of the goal mouth to double the lead.

Immediately afterwards, Domashnava Vera found the target to consolidate the lead 3-0. But in the next minute, Pakistan scored its first goal of the series when Azra Nasir's struck from the left side after beating two defenders.

Pakistan missed a chance of inthe50th minute when International, Razia Malik launched an attack and gave an angular pass to Amina Mir standing inthe circle. Amina had beaten the goalkeeper but her powerful hit was well stopped by defender Berkaliyeva Oxana, in the cage.
