KARACHI, May 20: On the directives of Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro, efforts have been undertaken to make functional all those health and education projects that have been completed under the annual development programme.

Steps will be accelerated for the completion of those projects that are still incomplete, says a statement issued here on Monday.

It said that the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Karachi, Shafiq-ur-Rehman Piracha, on Monday visited the under-completion projects.

He was informed that the construction of two hospitals of 50-bed each in Landhi and Korangi had been completed at a cost of Rs724.32 million.

It was stated that subject to availability of the electricity connection, the OPD at these two hospitals would be made functional from June 15.

Residential block for the staff of the hospital is also being constructed.

The DCO said the governor had directed that the work on all the annual development programme projects should be carried out in a transparent manner and the standards of construction and convenience of the people should also be kept in mind.

It was decided on the occasion that for effective functioning of the completed projects, the city Nazim will visit and review the projects so that the staff could be deployed according to the requirements and decision could be taken regarding the provision of necessary equipment.—APP
