Singh pulls off dramatic win

NEW ORLEANS, May 4: World number two Vijay Singh capped a dramatic comeback with a birdie on the 18th hole to win the New Orleans Classic by one shot on Monday.

Singh, four shots behind leader Joe Ogilvie when the final round began, shot a nine-under-par 63, including a seven-under 29 over the final nine holes, to finish on 22-under 266.

He won his second straight title on the PGA Tour and his third of the season.

MCDOWELL TRIUMPHS

MILAN: Britain's former American collegiate champion Graeme McDowell claimed his second European Tour title on Monday when he beat Frenchman Thomas Levet in a sudden-death playoff for the Italian Open title.

Both players had finished a stroke ahead of the field on 19-under-par after finishing off third and final round seven-under-par 65s before 24-year-old Northern Irishman McDowell prevailed at the fourth extra hole. Levet found water with his approach.
