LAHORE, May 4: Predicting large-scale changes in political scenario of the country in the coming winter, the PPP sees defections in the ruling PML-Q as a result. MPA Samiullah Khan, secretary-general of PPP's Lahore chapter, said the contemporary political situation was pointing to changes in the months of November and December which would culminate in the dissolution of assemblies, rifts in parties and the formation of new political alliances.

These changes, he claimed, would cause defections in the PML-Q and a big chunk of its activists would soon formally lodge requests for joining the ARD. Unlike the MMA which had helped Gen Musharraf give constitutional cover to his dictatorial steps through the 17th amendment, no democratic force would come forward to give an exit to the army ruler from the constitutional crisis to be caused by uniform issue.

Seeing diminishing options for Gen Musharraf in the future, he said the PPP would be able to play its political and democratic role in this situation for supremacy of the Constitution and restoration of real democracy.
