KARACHI, April 28: The first Speedway Pakistan Amateur Match Play golf tournament will teeoff from Thursday at DHA Country and Golf Club, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. The Pakistan Golf Federation (PFG) is organizing this tournament.

PGF secretary, Wg. Cdr (Retd) Iftikhar Ahmed Khan outlining the details of the championship at a press conference claimed it was the first amateur match play competition of its kind to be held in Pakistan.

He disclosed that leading amateur golfers from all over country will be contesting this prestigious event which offers golf equipments worth Rs 45,000, Rs35,000, Rs 25,000, and Rs20,000, for top four finishers.

PGF official praised the role of Akhtar Zaman Khan of the sponsors for generously contributing and extending their support for the promotion of golf in Pakistan. The tournament will involve over 18 stroke play and the matches will be played on knockout basis, he added.

Earlier, secretary DHA Golf Club Brig. (Retd) Ghulam Nabi, pointed out that the greens of the club would soon be refurbished and upgraded on most modern lines at par with international golf standards.
