HYDERABAD, April 28: Girl students and teachers of the Sindh University have urged the girl students from rural background to create educational awakening among girls of their areas.

They were speaking at the annual function held at the Marui Girls' Hostel on Tuesday to welcome new students and bid farewell to the outging students of the university. They said that the girl graduates must serve the cause of education in their villages and towns and motivate girl children to seek education.

They appreciated steps taken by the university authorities and hostel administration for providing facilities at the hostel. The Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, said that the university was offering a great opportunity to girls students of rural areas to seek higher education.

She added that after completing their education, the girl students owed it to their towns and villages to motivate the girls to seek admission to schools and colleges.

The provost of the hostel, Dr Qamar Jehan Mirza, praised the residents of the hostel for maintaining strict discipline in and outside the hostel. A group of foreign girl students staged a play on the occasion.
