PESHAWAR, April 23: The Democratic Doctors Forum on Friday threatened that house job doctors would observe a strike if their monthly stipend was not increased.

According to a press release, the forum's president Dr Abdul Aziz and general secretary Dr Ajmal Afridi said the house job doctors performed 24-hour duty but their monthly stipend was only Rs5,000.

They said the house job doctors were given many facilities inother provinces but in the NWFP they faced hardships. They expressed concern over the lack of facilities at the hostels.

They said the stipend paid to the house job doctors was not commensurate with their duties. They said the house job doctors would observe a strike if the government did not announce a raise in their stipend.
