MINGORA, April 22: Members of All-Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) took out a protest procession here on Thursday as a part of APCA's country-wide protest campaign for resolution of their demands.

The people marched from the district courts to Nishaat Chowk, where they held a meeting. They raised slogans against successive governments for not accepting APCA's demands.

The main chowk was blocked for all kind of traffic for some time. Office-bearers of the association in their speeches said that the government had failed to solve problems of salaried class in general and that of clerks in particular.

They also expressed their grave concern over sky-rocketing prices of daily use items and said that in such a condition poor employees were unable to buy even most essential items of daily life.

It was lamented that the rulers had time and again promised, but they did not bother to solve basic problems of clerks' community. They said clerks were running the entire system of the country, but no body was ready to recognize their services. They proposed that salaries and allowances of the clerks should be fixed in accordance with the market rates.

They also raised demands relating to medical, house rent and other facilities. They warned that if the All-Pakistan Clerks Association's problems were not resolved they would be forced to come out on the streets on a regular basis. The protestors later on dispersed peacefully.
