HYDERABAD, April 21: Several Awami National Party activists held a demonstration outside the local press club on Wednesday to protest against the killing of a party worker by alleged terrorists on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, ANP central vice president Sultan Khan Mandokhel, provincial vice president Haji Sher Zaman and others demanded that the IGP Sindh and SSP Hyderabad should arrest the killers of party worker Nazeerullah without delay.

They also demanded that the medical superintendent of Liaquat University Hospital should take strict action against the doctors who failed to provide medical treatment to Nazeerullah on time which resulted in his death.

It may be recalled here that Nazeerullah was shot at and seriously injured by unidentified assailants while he was asleep in his house in Liaquat Colony on Tuesday.

Anniversary: Tribute was paid to the late Dr Abdul Qadeer Afghan, former principal, Sindh University Engineering College, by the scholars at his 13th death anniversary at the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology in Jamshoro on Tuesday.

The vice chancellor, Sir Syed Engineering University, Dr Nazeer Ahmed, presided over the function. Speaking as chief guest, the vice chancellor, Isra University, Dr Asadullah Qazi, said that Dr Afghan was an embodiment of love and truth.

WASA: The Recovery Magistrate, Water and Sanitation Agency, Afzal Ahmed, on the second day of the recovery campaign on Tuesday, disconnected 17 water supply connections due to non-payment of dues and also seized nine motors installed on direct lines, said a Wasa spokesman.

He said that 15 more major defaulters had also been issued final notices to clear their outstanding dues. He advised the consumers to take advantage of the instalment scheme to clear their arrears.
