ISLAMABAD, April 19: The International Labour Organization and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund inked a Memorandum of Intent (MoI) here on Monday. The MoI was signed by the ILO director in Pakistan , Johannes Lokollo, and the PPAF chief executive officer, Kamal Hyat.

Speaking on the occasion, both the officials hoped that the MoI would go a long way in achieving its desired results, besides expressing their commitment in this regard. They were also of the view that the MoI was long overdue, and had been signed at the right time to fight poverty in the country.

The purpose of this document is to state the terms of cooperation between the ILO and the PPAF. It will serve as a framework within which both the organizations will coordinate complementary activities of their respective mandated programmes for optimizing the impact of poverty alleviation on communities.

Greater coordination between the two organizations is aimed at enhancing the range of available facilities and services to communities for optimum benefit and impact.

Under the agreement, both the organizations have agreed that the coordination shall be voluntary; the area and scope of cooperation shall be defined within the given parameters of mandated programmes of respective organization; the technical, financial and administrative responsibility for coordinated activities as well as the results thereof shall rest with the respective organization.
