KHAIRPUR, April 19: Three villages and crops on 1,000 acres were submerged in water when the Khairpur West Feeder Abul Wah developed a 40-feet-wide breach near Rapri on Monday. The affected villages included Jam Shaikh, Panah Shaikh and Phulia.

Sources said banana, mango, wheat and sugarcane crops on 1,000 acres was also destroyed.They said the flood water gushed towards the Ali Mohammad Narejo and Khat Narejo villages.

Traffic between Pir-jo-Goth and Khairpur remained suspended due to the breach. The irrigation officials decreased the water flow in the canal at the Sukkur Barrage at about 8pm to avert losses.

SUSPENDED: The DPO suspended ASI Moharram Ali Shar of the Faiz Ganj police station on the public complaints on Monday. The suspended ASI was locked up in the same police station.
